What happens next for Gas Code Reform?

Gas Code Reform is one of the most significant changes to gas market governance in recent years. Led by Ofgem, the programme is designed to simplify and modernise industry codes, strengthen governance arrangements and support a more efficient, transparent and adaptable gas market as the energy system continues to evolve.

The Licensing Assessment is an important milestone in that journey, providing an opportunity for the partnership to demonstrate its combined capabilities, expertise and strategic approach, while continuing to engage openly with customers, stakeholders and the wider gas industry.

The Licensing Assessment is not just about demonstrating capability – it’s about demonstrating how we will work with industry. Stakeholder engagement is central to our approach, and we want to provide opportunities for customers and stakeholders to understand our proposal, ask questions and help shape the conversation as the process progresses.
