British Telecom (BT) are planning the retirement of the ADSL (copper) network in January 2027 and as a result, support for PIX will end on 30 June 2026. This decision was approved by the DSC Change Management Committee on 13 August 2025.
All organisations currently using PIX must move to the enduring cloud-based Information Exchange (CIX) service, prior to the 30 June 2026, in order to continue sending and receiving data files over a secure and supported IX.
Action required
If you're a physical IX user, it is essential that you contact us at cloudIX@xoserve.co.uk as soon as possible to initiate the process of moving away from PIX.
To guarantee a migration to CIX by the industry-imposed deadline of 30 June 2026, you must arrange for your migration to begin no later than 15 May 2026.
Next steps
Full migration can take as little as four days to complete, and the process begins with three or four short Teams calls where we will guide you through the process and discuss requirements and timings. The final switchover activity takes around one hour, with no disruption to existing services.
We’re providing a comprehensive onboarding programme to support customers throughout the transition process, including:
- End-to-end project coordination from initial engagement to full migration.
- Technical and contractual support, including prerequisites and connectivity testing with migrating parties.
- Expert guidance to ensure a smooth and secure transition for all customers and their providers.
Migration to CIX is simple and straightforward, and a significant number of IX users have already completed the transition without impact to their organisations.
Benefits of CIX
Further benefits of migrating to the CIX platform are:
- Significantly enhanced security, resilience, and scalability.
- Modern, cloud-native architecture with streamlined integration and portal, for easy accessibility.
